Wine Notes:
One of the oldest and the most collected wines in all of Italy. The vineyards for this prestigious DOCG red wine were founded in the 9th century and considered one of the oldest in Italy.
Defined as "the king of wines and the wine of kings" because of its regal characteristics, this splendid Piedmont red is one of the standard-bearers of Italian enology.
Barolo began acquiring its royal status as early as the Middle Ages and its reputation steadily grew in succeeding periods. It is reported that Barolo was often found on the table of Louis XIV.
Because of the absolute excellence of the quality of Barolo, there has never been any dearth of poets and writers to render homage to the wine.
Winemaker Notes:
At sight the color is a deep ruby red with maroon and orange highlights, becoming darker orange with age. On the nose it is wide and full with a strong scent of roses, violets, and licorice. On the palate the wine is dry, yet full-bodied, austere, tannic, and quite sapid, with a long persistent finish.
One of the premiere classic wines of Italy to be enjoyed now or to hold and refine for years to come.
Decanting Highly Recomended.
Pairing:
Pairs well with roasted meat and lamb, wild game, great for barbeques, and roasted poultry.
