Winemaker Notes:
This exceptional wine is recognized as the Father of American Zinfandel
Historical text indicate that the early Italian immigrants, wine-makers and vintners, who helped organize and establish the wine regions of Northern California, actually utilized the vines of Primitivo di Manduria to create Zinfandel.
From the renowned southern Italian wine producing state of Puglia, this wine hails from one of the regions centers of attention; Manduria.
This amazing wine is an example of the high quality wine producing capabilities from the vintners in the south and is influenced by the volcanic rich soil and influences of the Adriatic Sea and Bay of Taranto.
Made of 100% Primitivo di Manduria, this wine is aged for 12 months; 9 months in French Oak Barriques (size: 250ltr) and 3 months in Bottle. At sight this wine is a concentrated deep ruby red color turning dark orange with age. The bouquet is persistent and delicious, and on the nose are hints of sweet red fruits and blueberries. The taste is fresh and long on the palate with medium tannins when young, becoming softer and velvety with a fuller body over time; always smooth and pleasant, with a long and wonderfully persistent finish.
A wine that truly gets better and better with age, excellent when young, tremendous when old, and definitely to be enjoyed either way!
Excellent with any pasta dish, roasted, braised, and grilled meats, savory fish, spicy dishes, and philosophical conversations with friends.
