Winemaker Notes:
The Southern Italian cousin of Sangiovese with bold characteristics
An Excellent Southern Italian Red Wine with exceptional body and taste
From the renowned wine region of Salento on the peninsula of Puglia and adjacent to the Bay of Taranto comes this amazing red wine that has been relatively unknown until now.
Puglia, stretches over 220 miles to Italy´s heel-tip, and this wine hails from the regions center of attention and renowned southern Italian wine producing region of Salento; and is part of an assortment of wines that have been researched and developed over many, many years to accentuate the intrinsic value of the Puglia region. This Sangiovese is bolder and earthier than its Tuscan counterpart and is made of 100% Sangiovese di Salento.
At sight the color of this Sangiovese is an intense purple red. The nose is a floral, with fruity expressions of violets and ripe cherry, resulting in a strong apricot aroma. On the palate the taste is bold yet smooth with a slightly sweet and persistent finish.
The wine pairs eexceptionally well with any pasta, roasted or grilled meats, savory fish, and spicy dishes too.
