Wine Notes:
The Syrah grape which is relatively new to Sicily, was introduced to support French wine production back in the 16th century.
Syrah grows throughout Sicily, and is also known as "Shiraz" by the growers and winemakers of the region.
Today, Syrah grapes grown in the south and the wines they produce have taken on their own special characteristics and quickly become a much talked about value throughout the World.
The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality.
Winemaker Notes:
At sight this wine is a vivacious ruby red color of extremely good concentration and tending towards garnet. On the nose it is fruity, full and intense, with hints of currants, flowers, oak, and spices. On the palate the taste is dry and well–structured with a smooth full body and long persistent undertones and smooth, long finish. This wine is produced with minimal intervention and is a great example of a new classic red wine from Sicily.
Wines from this appellation are usually suited to moderate aging and may also be drunk young.
At its best when opened 30 minutes or longer prior to serving.
Pairing:
Pairs well with roasted or grilled meats, pasta, and aged or sharp cheese.
