Wine Notes:
A classic Italian gem that created what Chianti and its home state of Tuscany are known for today. This wine is true to its origin and an excellent example of an old world style Chianti.
Chianti, as a wine, is linked to a precise well-defined geographical area in Tuscany, and is in fact a regional product of Italy.
As long ago as 1716, a grand ducal decree extended the production limits beyond the hilly zone that is recognized as Chianti. It was in 1932 that because of the wines success in Italy and throughout the world, was it definitively sanctioned by a ministerial decree.
Chianti is a wine of extremely ancient origin, but it was only in the middle ages that it began to be identified by the name of the geographical area in which is was produced. The first evidence of the name transfer was noted in text from 1383 to 1410.
Winemaker Notes:
The nose of this wine is wide and full, with lingering aromas of delicious fruit and spiced notes. Elegant and well balanced, on the palate the wine is fruit forward and soft, with gentle tannins that are in perfect balance with the acidity of the wine, with subtle flavors of vanilla, cocoa, and spice. A smooth, fruit forward body, soft and warm, with a long, slightly dry, velvety finish.
This wine can be enjoyed young and becomes more refined for 3 to 4 years.
At its best when opened 30 mniutes or longer prior to serving.
Pairing:
It's almost impossible to incorrectly pair this wine with anything and it reaches its best with traditional home style cooking, especially barbeque, roasted lamb and chicken, hearty pasta, savory fish or shellfish dishes.
