WINE NOTES:

An Italian classic of the finest and highest quality and the wine that Cleopatra used to impress Julius Caesar, when she was vigorously courting his attention.

Known throughout Italy and Europe as the wine of "Passion and Romance".

A classic and superb Piemonte wine, Brachetto is in much demand although annual output in the region is extremely limited. However, limited production is compensated by its fine and incomparable quality. According to popular tradition, the wine was greatly appreciated by, and was the preferred beverage of one of the most famous characters of the Italian comedy in masks, Gianduja da Gioan d’Laduja or Giovanni of the Jug. He drew inspiration for his bubbly high spirits from this sparkling ruby red wine with fragrant foam. He had a reputation as a heavy drinker and regarded Brachetto as the wine most suited to fill the jug he always carried around with him and to satisfying his refined palate. Brachetto originated in the hills around Asti, in Monferrato, which is home of many famous Piedmont wines. Any discussion of Brachetto immediately brings to mind images of country festivals when during the summer, fires light up the hills and draw people from their homes to eat and drink together

WINEMAKER NOTES:

This wine is made of hand select Brachetto grapes and is aged in the classic 3-phase Brachetto fermentation methods.

The first phase of fermentation, after initial soft press, the wine takes its typical color and develops the first degree of alcohol during maceration.

In the second phase and after several weeks, the must is softly pressed and refrigerated where it is temperature controlled and rests for many months in order to refine and evolve to its best.

In the third phase and before bottled, a second fermentation takes place to develop the last degree of alcohol and the pleasant liveliness that is characteristic of Brachetto.

The color is a deep cherry red with ruby red reflections. The bouquet is persistent, fragrant, very delicate, with the typical scent of roses. The taste is sweet, soft, delicate and supple with a long, delicious and persistent finish.

Natural spumante wines do not hold indefinitely and are recommended to be consumed within 12 to 18 months of release.

Pairing:

Excellent to enjoy anytime of day and pairs perfectly as an appetizer, with desserts, and especially during times of celebration and festivals.
