Centuries ago, the ruling kings of different regions would use this exceptional wine as monetary value, and would fight for the rights and control of this specific regions vineyards and the prized Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes. A classic style white wine, it is exclusive to the renowned wine region of San Gimignano in Tuscany, near Siena. San Gimignano is also known as the City of Towers because being one of the highest points in Tuscany, dozens upon dozens of lookout towers were built over the centuries to guard the region, town, and vineyards from attack. Today, there is only a handful of the ancient towers that remain. Winemaker Notes: Having wonderful character and structure, this wine displays a subtle, pure straw color with golden reflections and a delicious bouquet. The nose is a delicate and penetrating aroma of fruit that is wide and full. The finish is crisp with a typical Vernaccia fruity flavor followed by a slightly bitterish and persistent clean finish. This wine may be enjoyed for 2 to 3 years from release during which time it will retain all its fruit characteristics. Pairing: Pairs well with boiled or fried seafood and shellfish, roasted white meats, and soft cheeses.
