Wine Notes:

Syrah is a dark–skinned variety of grape and is grown in many countries and is primarily used to produce powerful red wines, which enjoy great popularity in the marketplace, relatively often under the synonym Shiraz.

Syrah is used both for varietal wines and in blended wines, where it can be both the major and minor component. It is called Syrah in its country of origin, France, as well as in the rest of Europe.

First introduced to Sicily by the French in the 17th and 18th centuries to help support local production, the grape has taken on its own bold and robust characteristics over the centuries.

Today, Sicilian Syrah has become recognized throughout the world as a southern Italian classic red wine with magnificent character and flavors.

Winemaker Notes:

Bright ruby red in color of extremely good concentration. Intense, rich, fruity and floral aromas persist on the nose. To the palate it reveals good acidity, pleasant sapidity and a significant persistence dominated by alcoholic tones. Having very good structure, the wine is produced by traditional procedures and from the most sound and ripest grapes. It consists of only one species of wine and it expresses all the flavors and tones of Sicily.

This wine can be enjoyed young and becomes more refined for 3 to 5 years.

At its best when opened 45 minutes or longer prior to serving.

Pairing:

Pairs well with roasted or grilled meats, savory pasta and fish, deep fried fish and shellfish, and spicy dishes.
