Winemaker Notes:
A Classic Italian Red Wine Blend
Made in the "Old World" Style and Traditions
The main grape of this wine; Montepulciano, comes from Abruzzo, which neighbors Tuscany to the east.
Montepulciano (or Sangiovese) was introduced by farmers into the region of Abruzzo many centuries ago, and to distinguish themselves from Tuscan growers they renamed the grape; Montepulciano d´Abruzzo. Over the centuries that grape has taken on its own characteristics derived from the influences of the Adriatic Sea and rich soil within the region.
This wine is made of the finest, hand-selected Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes to create this fabulous " old world" classic blend red wine.
At sight this wine is a brilliant, deep ruby red color with shades of violet that tend towards garnet with age. The bouquet is wide and delicious with aromas of cherry and plum, which are complimented by cedar and spice on the nose. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, soft and dry with fine tannins, and a smooth, clean, persistent finish. A wonderful example of a classic Italian red wine blend.
This wine pairs great with deep-fried or bread-based appetizers, hearty pasta dishes, roasted meats, and anything served at a back-yard barbeque.
